What the Rapid Naming Cards will do

Reading fluently means recognizing and naming symbols so fast that it feels automatic. Many children with dyslexia name things more slowly, and that slower retrieval shows up as slower reading. Rapid naming practice targets exactly that skill: a child looks at a row of colors, objects, or letters and names each one out loud, quickly and accurately, until the naming becomes effortless.

The Rapid Naming Cards will let you generate rows of colors, objects, and letters, practice them on screen, and print clean cards for the table or the car. It is a simple, playful way to build the naming speed that underpins fluent reading. From kindlexy.com.

How it will work

  1. 1

    Pick a card set

Choose colors, objects, or letters to match where your child is in their reading.

  2. 2

    Name the rows fast

Your child names each item across the row out loud, as quickly and accurately as they can.

  3. 3

    Print the cards

A clean set for the table or the car, ready in seconds. Nothing leaves your device.

  4. 4

    Practice a little, often

Short, frequent rounds work best, so naming gets quicker and reading flows more smoothly.
